          Brief Highlights of Activities and Accomplishments:

  • Host of the PNAA National Conventions in 1985 & 1991.

  • Co-hosted with PNAOhio and PNAIndiana in 2000.

  • Host of the PNAA North Central Regional Conventions in 2002 and 2007 and 2016.

  • Pioneered the PNAA implementation of ELNEC Curriculum on End of Life Care in 2003.

  • A member of COMON (Coalition of Michigan Organizations of Nursing) since 1989, to update on legislative issues affecting nursing and healthcare.

  • Offers educational programs with contact hours needed for RN license renewal.

  • Spearheaded the Removal of the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) Qualifying Examination in Michigan, signed into law by the governor in 2007.

  • Participated in the survey on Healthcare Disparities Reduction among Asian Americans from May-September 2010, under the auspices of the Asian Centerof Southeast Michigan.

  • Coordinated an Educational Cruise to Alaska in 2006 for its members and their families.

  • Published two books: Book I (2000) The Filipino Nurse: The Dream and the Promise that took five years to finish. Book II (2007) Living the Promise, a compilation of emotionally touching short stories authored by members.

  • PNAM publishes its newsletters biannually – a PNAA PRIDE Award winner (Professional Presentation, Relevance, Inspiring, Diverse, and Educational) in 1998, 1999, 2001, 2005, 2007, and 2008.

  • Granted by the Internal Revenue Service the 501C3 status and has been designated " a public charity status " in Sept. 17, 2015.

  • Received the Filamcco Grant money for Writing and Computer Workshops among the Filipino American community, 2016.

  • Implemented a successful year long Community Outreach project (2017 - 2018), the Diabetes Prevention Program in partnership with the  Asian Center of Southeast Michigan (BSBSM grant) and the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan.

  • Implemented successful community Outreach projects (2017 and 2018) for Filipino women in Leyte and Nueva Ecija, Philippines during medical mission piggybacked with the Philippine American Medical Mission Foundation of Michigan, funded by the Eastern Michigan University  in partnership with the Filipino American Community Council (Filamcco).

  • Recipient of 2018 Community Service Award from the Filipino American Community Council (Filamcco).

  • Donated over $10,000 to the PNAA/PNAAF Legacy Building (Headquarters located in New Jersey), a long time dream for all PNAA members, now a reality!
